A week of Earthsong

To launch Black History Month we were incredibly fortunate to have ‘Earthsong’ join us for a week.  The whole school had sessions exploring a wide range of instruments from Africa, learning about their origin, how they are played and the different sounds that they make.  The children had lots of opportunities to play the instruments for themselves, so they could really experience the different techniques needed and the sounds that they could make.  Storme, Jill and Angela took us all on a journey to Africa through their music, stories and songs and it was wonderful to see the engagement and enjoyment in our children as they responded to these through dance and movement.  At the end of the week there was a feeling of joy as we came together as a school to celebrate and perform the music and dances that we had learnt.
